COFFIN FOR A SACRED CAT (circa 305 B.C.) - A mummified cat is inside the bronze, cat-shaped coffin. This cat was pictured in the children's book From the Mixed-up FIles of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.





THE MUMMIES AT THE MET ARE MOSTLY OVER 2,000 YEARS OLD. . . THE MET HAS 26,000 OBJECTS IN ITS EGYPTIAN COLLECTION.









THIS IS THE ENTRANCE TO THE MET's "COSTUME INSTITUTE" EXHIBIT. IT IS OFTEN CLOSED.



THE MET'S COSTUME INSTITUTE IS SOMETIMES OPEN FOR VIEWING. IF SO, DESCEND THESE STAIRS, OR TAKE THE NEARBY ELEVATOR DOWN ONE FLOOR.

YOU ARE ENTERING THE "TEMPLE OF DENDUR" ROOM. . .THE TEMPLE OF DENDUR WAS BUILT BY THE ROMANS IN 35 B.C. AND GIVEN TO THE U.S. BY EGYPT IN 1965.











JACQUELINE KENNEDY ONASSIS LIVED IN THIS BUILDING. . .



. . .SHE LIVED WITH ARISTOTLE ONASSIS IN THE APARTMENT THAT HAS BUSHES ON THE BALCONY
